The President of GALGA, who doubles as the Chairman of Mansakonko Area Council, Landing B Sanneh, has responded to the Gambian Leader, Adama Barrow, over his recent pronouncement of appointing Governors in Kanifing Municipality and Banjul by January.

According to Sanneh, countries around the globe are moving fast to consolidate and harness their democracy, whiles President Barrow is trying to sow seeds of dictatorship and retardation in the country.

“It is not strategic to establish Governor’s office in KM and Banjul because it is going to consume a lot of resources and it is untimely as well. All serious countries are busy cutting their expenditures. Why is the President thinking of increasing ours?” Chairman asked.

Sanneh added that it is not in the best interest of the masses to establish Governors’ offices in KM and Banjul, urging the President to accommodate all councils irrespective of their political differences for the wider benefit of Gambians.

“The President and we the elected authorities are servants of the people. So, let us do things that will be in their favor and avoid petty talks that are not beneficial to the citizenry” Chairman Sanneh charged

During his meeting at Buffer Zone, President Barrow vowed to appoint Governors in KM and Banjul who are going to speak the same language as the government to avoid efforts of undermining the development of his government’s program.
