The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction under the Leadership of Fabakary Tombong Jatta has embarked on its biannual congress held at Janjanbureh.

Since Friday, the rival APRC camp members backed by Former President Jammeh, have been throwing shades over the alleged unattended manner of the FTJ-led camps congress.

The former President himself earlier wrote to the electoral body, urging them to recognize his backed APRC camp and arguing that he has sacked Fabakary Tombong Jatta and his executive.

In what they (rivals) called ‘unfair’ and ‘biased’ treatment, the IEC said they recognize the FTJ-led camp and authorized them to go ahead with their congress hence the currently ongoing Janjanbureh gathering.

Political Activist and Member of ‘No to Alliance’, Lamin Tamba, said this congress is a total failure because the crowd that surfaced is below expectations.

“FTJ and his executives have tried to kill the party but they woefully failed. Now they will understand that the FTJ-led camp has no following. The APRC yesterday and today are completely different in terms of size and crowd. APRC never fitted in 10,000 Pencha Mi hall. Today, FTJ and his fellow betrayers could not manage 300 people in a classroom with zero ambiance”, he said

Deputy Spokesman of the APRC, Mr. Dodou Jah, has reverted to Tamba and flatly denied his claims, arguing that their congress was neither boycotted nor under-attended.

“This is a party congress and we only bring delegates who will be taking part directly in the decision-making process of the party on behalf of constituencies”, Jah argued.

He added that looking around, you will realize the hall was filled with delegates, further stating that it is a congress and only delegates are needed.

“What’s important is the delegates came in their numbers. People know APRC very well. If we should call all our militants to be here, people will not fit in Janjanbureh today”, Jah charged.

Meanwhile, the ‘No to Alliance’ executives have embarked on a tour and were at Diabugu last night. During the gathering, Former President Jammeh addressed the people of URR from his base where he spoke on the difference between the two camps.

“There are two camps, the first one is Iblis and the second one is God’s camp which is my APRC camp. We don’t worship Satan. We worship only God”, Jammeh said.
