In a momentous announcement, the Mayoress of Banjul, Rohey Malick Lowe, has been awarded a prestigious Special Citation by Madam Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the Under Secretary General and Executive Director of UN-Habitat.

This recognition is a testament to the mayor’s exceptional dedication to community development and urban sustainability.
Madam Maimunah Mohd Sharif, a prominent figure in global urban development, recognised the mayor’s outstanding contributions to the city of Banjul.

The special citation serves as a symbol of her unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the city’s residents.

Under her leadership, Banjul has witnessed remarkable progress in women and youth empowerment. Her innovative initiatives have not only improved the living conditions of Banjul’s residents but have also made significant strides towards achieving sustainable urban development goals.

In response to the honour, she wrote on her Facebook page.”I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the people of The Gambia and particularly to the residents of Banjul for their unwavering and massive support for me all through my journey as mayor.”

The entire city of Banjul joins in celebrating this remarkable achievement, which undoubtedly solidifies Mayoress’s legacy as a visionary leader dedicated to building a brighter future for the city and its residents.
