When Saikou Jawara, the chairman of an entire area council, decides to leave, it speaks volumes about the challenges facing The Gambia. While young people migrating often indicates tough times for a country, the departure of such a prominent figure suggests a lack of hope, especially within the ruling party and the lack of hope in the government he was part of.

Saikou Jawara leaving boils down to one thing: he, like many others, has lost faith in President Adama Barrow’s leadership and sees leaving The Gambia as the only way out.

The reasons behind this troubling trend are many. The rising cost of living is a significant factor, making people like Saikou Jawara look for better opportunities abroad where things seem more promising.

Additionally, the increasing problems with drug abuse and crime rates paint a bleak picture of the country. It raises doubts about President Barrow’s ability to address these issues, impacting not only individuals like Saikou Jawara but the entire Gambian population.

Critics argue that these signs of unrest and disappointment point to a bigger problem: Adama Barrow is not be the right leader for Gambia. Saikou Jawara leaving represents a larger feeling of dissatisfaction that needs addressing, which can be done only by kicking the NPP government out and usher in a new start by having a UDP government with clear policies and solutions to our problems.

The Gambia, with its potential, deserves leadership that brings hope, confidence, and tackles the challenges faced by its people. As Saikou Jawara joins others seeking opportunities outside the country, it’s a signal for everyone to reflect on the current state of affairs and reconsider the leadership guiding The Gambia’s future.
