In a recent turn of events, sports journalist Ebrima Campo of Star FM is under scrutiny for alleged bias and corruption, as claimed by Gamfoot, a famous football page.

The group accuses Campo of being influenced by the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), pointing to his attendance at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina with travel expenses reportedly covered by the GFF.

Gamfoot asserts that Campo’s close relationship with Bakary Jammeh, a prominent figure within the GFF whom Campo named his son after, raises concerns about his impartiality.

The group urges Campo to return to his roots as a fair and outspoken journalist, emphasising the importance of neutrality in reporting on sports, especially when it comes to exposing corruption within the GFF.

Despite Campo’s previous reputation as an honest journalist, Gamfoot expresses concern over his recent silence and apparent disregard for alleged corruption within the football association.
The plea from Gamfoot concludes with a call for Campo to reconsider his stance, warning that continued bias may jeopardise his credibility as a journalist.

Following the accusations and public outcry, Ebrima Campo has responded to the controversy by stating, “I have come to a consultation with Gamfoot, and I have spoken to them, and we have peace between us as brothers. We both want what is best for our football.”

Campo’s attempt to address the concerns and reconcile with Gamfoot suggests a willingness to resolve the matter amicably.

It remains to be seen whether this gesture will be sufficient to alleviate the doubts surrounding his journalistic integrity.
