Part of the preparations, including the construction of VIP lounges at the country’s only airport and major road building, are on stage in the Greater Banjul Area and its surroundings.
However, the OIC Gambian welcomed top Gambian artists to compose a song and promote the event in all social media outlets but excluded ST, Brikama Boyo, and Kitabu the Comedian, the only Gambian comedian with a YouTube silver jubilee.

Many Gambians, both at home and abroad, have expressed concern over the non-inclusion of the two main faces in the country’s music and comedy scene, describing the selection as biassed and ill-guided.
Speaking to King FM radio, the Director of Communication and Branding at OIC Gambian, Mr. Nfally Fadera, said they could not agree on terms with ST, which resulted in his exclusion from the team of artists invited to compose a song for the event.

On why Kitabu, the comedian, was not included, Mr. Fadera replied, “We were looking at influencers with many followers on TikTok and Instagram, and he happened not to be part of the people with larger followers on these two apps.”.
Kitabu, the comedian, reached out to this medium, disputing Mr. Fadera’s assertion and arguing that he got more followers than all the influencers they signed on both TikTok and Instagram.
