Residents of Brikama, Kembujeh have decried heavy fuel (HO4) spillage in their surroundings.

The product is believed to have emanated from a power plant in Kabafita.

It’s yet to be officially established which circumstances led to the spillage.

However, Residents in Kembujeh said the spillage is seriously affecting them on claims that the spilled oil entered their wells and rooms due to the flooding they experienced last weekend.

The residents are currently seeking support from the government to clean their environment as it put their health at risk.

According to one Ebrima Badjie, the air they are inhaling currently isn’t good for their health while urging the government to act now.

“Our plants died and there is possibility of losing the fertility of the soil which can affect farming in the area” unhappy Mr. Badjie said.

The level of damage caused by the spillage can only be ascertained by a proper environmental assessment which is yet be conducted, they said.
