Imam lamin Baba Sanneh has revealed that one of the contributors of the Gambia’s underdevelopment are adultery and fornication. He made these and many other remarks while delivering a sermon on Friday at a mosque in Manduarr, Brikama.
In an audio obtained by this medium, Imam Sanneh said Gambians who are involved in adultery and fornication are partly to blame for the lack of rain and other mishaps that continue to befall our nation.

According to him, the existence of these vices in any place scares angels and every form of goodness away, thereby making them vulnerable to calamities.
“The Gambia has not been receiving enough rain, and our development has been retarded; we have lost our blessing as a nation. These have been caused by no other people but those involved in adultery and fornication”, he said.
A former member of the Association of Gambian Students in Morocco, Imam Lamin Baba Sanneh has recently graduated from Morocco with a degree in Shariah and Law from Université Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah in Fès.
The Imam added that even some of our government officials that we look up to and entrust our affairs with, are involved in this despicable act.
“We have seen pictures of Ministers and other senior government officials countless time, allegedly involved with other women different from their wives.
Where are we headed as a nation, when the people serving as our eyes use their positions to fornicate?”, Imam Ceesay alluded.
The Imam argued that the President of the country should step down if he cannot handle issues like this, as he will be questioned about them in the next life.
“The Gambia has a very poor infrastructure; people get submerged in their homes because of poor drainage systems. There is so much he will be answerable for, so he should step down if he is not capable of addressing the country’s problems”, he concluded.
