Bubacarr Bob Keita’s ex-wife, Sainabou Mbye and Co have appear before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court today.

The accused were represented by Counsel Combeh Gaye whiles Patrick Gomez appeared for the state.

The trio are accused of manslaughter in the lower court; a charge the court lacks jurisdiction over and they were subsequently sent to mile two on remand, pending their appearance before a competent court.

Last month, a baby who is a subject of an ongoing rape trial at the Bundung High Court died after been allegedly left in a hot car for hours.

This resulted to a public outcry and calls for the arrest of Sainabou Mbye for possible prosecution.

During today’s proceedings, the State asked the court to give them more time to gather evidence as the postmortem report is still pending.

The state Prosecutor further seeks the blessing of the court to adjourn the matter for a period of two weeks for better preparation to start the case in earnest.

The State’s submission was objected to by the defense Lawyer; saying the State isn’t showing seriousness about the case and hence urged the court to discharge her clients.

The defense lawyer argued that her clients can’t be under custody without charges.

After listening to both parties, Justice Ebrima Jaiteh, the presiding Judge urged the defense to put her submissions into writing which will give the State an opportunity to reply.

He therefore adjourned the matter to Friday for continuation.

If readers can recall, last Monday Madam Mbye, Muhammad Mbye and Kibili Dembally appeared before Principal Magistrate, Omar Jabang for manslaughter.

However, the Magistrate transferred the case to the High Court citing lack of jurisdiction to preside over such Capital Offenses.
