A movement calling itself, ‘Arr Banjul Movement’ were supposed to protest today in the capital over rising environmental conditions confronting the city.

According to the organizers of the protest, they were out to express disappointment over the state of affairs in Banjul whilst attributing the recent floods to sand mining and building of structures on water ways in the capital; especially in the wetlands area.

The police yesterday issued a statement saying the movement is without a permit, urging them to cancel their protest.

Despite this statement from the police, dozens of them where out today to deliver their messages to the relevant authorities.

Ousainou Gambia, a member of the movement said they will not relent until the government heeds their messages over the environmental issues confronting the capital.
