He urged public servants to be honest and spend public funds judicious for the wider benefit of the masses.

“If you are appointed in a public position to steer the affairs of the people, don’t use the entrusted funds to build mansions and buy luxury cars for yourself.

He said public funds shouldn’t be used for self-enrichment but rather for the benefit of the people as any token illegitimately acquired will be surely refunded on the day of Judgment.

While he emphasized the dangers of corruption and malfeasance, Sheikh Kanteh urged marabouts to refuse giving spiritual help to any public servant who plundered state resources against prosecution and accountability.

“Imams, Presidents and Traditional leaders should carry out their responsibilities and functions accordingly without being selfish and corrupt” the Kololi Imam said.

The Imam said if corruption is rampant, rich will prevail over the poor and powerful people will prevail over the vulnerable poor masses for survival.

“A corrupt nation is cursed. It always brings bad luck and hardship to masses, therefore, it’s forbidden” imam Kanteh said.

He advises Leaders to be straightforward,  avoid aiding and abetting people who are plundering down state funds against public interest.
