Mr. Sarjo Jarju a staunch supporter of the President’s National Peoples Party expressed dissatisfaction over Barrow’s decision of exercising his prerogative of mercy to pardon a man; who allegedly scammed him.

Mr. Jarju said that one Ebrima Ndow obtained D85 thousand from him in return for three hundred bags of cement.

He said the culprit breached the contract and was subsequently arrested, charged, and prosecuted.

He said the culprit Mr. Ndow, was found guilty by a magistrate court in Kanifing and was sentenced to two years imprisonment.

“To my dismay, he only spent nine months in prison and got pardoned by the President for an unknown reason,” Mr. Jarju said

Mr. Jarju further said he is badly embarrassed by the President’s decision saying anytime he goes around to mingle with friends, he will be provoked over this cement saga.

“I am among the main pillars of National Peoples Party and the decision of the President to pardon Ndoma who offended me by law shouldn’t be given such a treatment,” he said

Unhappy Mr. Jarju wrote to the Presidency expressing disappointment over Ndow’s release and seeking financial compensation.

“Hence the culprit was released, I want the President to pay for the money lost to Ndow as the money he obtained wasn’t mine and the owners started mounting pressure on me to produce their money” frustrated Sarjo Jarju said.

“I wrote a letter to the Presidency but they are yet to acknowledge my letter over this saga,” he said.

It’s a tradition in the country yearly where the President exercises his prerogative of mercy to pardon prisoners who are believed to commit minor crimes in society.
