Mr Momodou Sabally, the New Special Adviser to President Barrow has said that he is the champion of youths and they (youths) have no reason of turning their back to the President.

Mr Sabally made these remarks at Brufut as Opposition UDP’s regional youth wing Deputy Secretary General, Ebrima Bojang deserted them for the ruling NPP.

Speaking at the event, Mr Sabally said he did not see any reason why the youths of the country should not join the President arguing that the Gambian leader has done everything for them.

“Youth matters are central to the current administration and it’s only President Barrow who is appointing youths to Ministerial positions. Who appointed Dr Ceesay and Bakary Badjie to Ministerial positions? It’s President Barrow and he is doing lot more for the youths of this country” Sabally stated.

He challenged youths to join the ruling party arguing that if it is their welfare that matters to them, he can fully assure them that the President is doing everything to make sure they are satisfied.

“I am the champion of youths and if anyone tells you this government is not interested in the welfare of the youths then he is misleading you because we have seen what the President is doing for us, youths.

He (President) is reconstructing the national stadium and plans are underway for a new one and he is giving opportunities to youths at his cabinet. What more could you ask from the President? If you refuse to join him, I will think you are holding onto something else and not national development” Sabally stated.

He challenged youths to be patient in politics but encouraged them to join the ruling party insisting “if you do not want to grow grey hairs in opposition, NPP is the place because they are here to stay” he added.

The defected Mr Bojang assured NPP of his unflinching support assuring the ruling party’s top brass of victory in the Kombos in the next presidential election.
